Queen’s Jubilee Community Party Marks Mayoral Opening of Much-Needed Lottery-Funded Adventure Play Area For Kids of Highfield
The New Mayor of Bolton will be opening a new Lottery-funded play area in Highfield during a community party to mark the Queen’s Jubilee on Sunday 3rd June at Highfield Hall Community Centre, Marsh Lane, Farnworth (BL4 0AW)
The party – which runs from 11.30 – 4.00 – and park opening, at Highfield Hall Community Centre on Marsh Lane, has been organised by the committee who run the centre, and Chairwoman Mrs Shelley Taylor thinks the party will introduce the new play area to the residents who will be using it:
“we’ve organised a great party with music, a funfair, performances by Angels Dance, and free food and drink – we expect a great turnout and we’re very excited for when the new Mayor opens the adventure park at 12.00 – I’m sure it will be a massive hit with the local kids – I know mine will love it!”
A local resident said;
“I don’t know about Highfield being a ‘deprived area’, but the kids are deprived of things to do – particularly things that are free – as a result many of the kids are bored, and find less sociable things to do, including a recent incident where youngsters were found vandalising the roof of the Orchards Childrens Centre. Hopefully this adventure park will serve as a better, safer place to play”
The Jubilee event is funded by Farnworth and Harper Green Area Forum and is just one of many upcoming events at the centre throughout 2012 and 2013, and follows on from the success of previous Halloween, Christmas and Easter parties.
More information can be found at http://highfield-hall.org or on posters and flyers around the area.
